Essence

Do you get goose-bumps sometimes when you suddenly perceive that you are not alone, although there is no one else around? Usually, this perception is accompanied by fear--fear not so much of the unknown, as of the unseen. Somehow, our acculturation has managed to equate the "intangible" with "darkness;" in so doing, our fear for darkness is applied to the unseen by transference. Nonetheless, we are not alone. And what accompanies us is neither dark nor evil. In fact, it ismore of an "infinite medium or matrix" than a "companion," although when personalized, it feels more like the latter. It is the divine substance, the Creator's essence. Within this intangible milieu, we are seamlessly integrated.Within the divine "ethers" as it were, we conduct our daily business and under normal circumstances, our senses will not perceive this presence. Once in a great while, when our guards are down and we are unsuspecting, the presence can "surface" and is felt. At other times, such awareness is the reward of persons that specifically and diligently search for it.

Next time you get goose- bumps, do not be frightened. You are in effect "sensing" your larger self, your real self. You are feeling your true essence--your Creator. You may accept the presence as a companion--if you wish--but remember that you are feeling your own true self, and not a different entity.

While we conduct our lives in almost total oblivion of divine presence and as if we are separate from it, we ought to remember that it is an all-encompassing and everlasting presence. We should bear in mind that we could not be separate from, nor separated from, the presence. We need to recall that this presence, this Creator, is us. Any contrary perception is an illusion.
